We’re B Corp Certified

High-Rise Communications is a certified B Corp

We believe in the power of communications to change the world and that starts with our own communities. As a B Corp, we’re counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.

Ever since we were founded in 2016, our mission has always been to provide purposeful communications for purposeful organisations. We now provide strategic communications support to clients including technology-for-good platforms, national and regional charities, impact investment firms, social movements and more.

But that didn’t mean our B Corp journey was easy! Achieving B Corp certification was a huge amount of work. We wanted to not just scrape through but really use the B Impact Assessment as a way of looking at every aspect of our business and seeing how we could do even better.

We achieved B Corp with an impressive overall score of 97.9. To put this into context, the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the B Impact assessment is currently 50.9.

Why B Corp matters

B Corp and our communications work

Why does a communications agency become a B-Corp? For us there were lots of reasons. It provides a framework that we can measure ourselves against, and make sure we are always improving in every aspect of our business. For our communications work,  one of the most important things being a Certified B Corp brings us is access to a collaborative community that we can learn from and where we can share best practice and insights.

B Corp and our clients

Our mission is to provide purposeful communications for purposeful organisations. And we want that mission statement to mean something. With B Corp, our clients now have the reassurance of knowing that there is rigour, detail and data behind our mission statement. Becoming a Certified B Corp is not easy. Not only that, we have to recertify every three years and we want to do even better next time round. B Corp means our clients know we are serious about making a difference for people and planet through our work.

B Corp and our team

We are proud that we are trying to make the world a better place! It makes us a nicer place to work and a happy team who feel supported and listened to means we provide a better service for our clients too.

Our pro-bono commitments

As part our commitment to building stronger communities, we provide a limited amount of pro-bono each work each year to causes which are close to our heart and which might not otherwise benefit from the support we provide.

Organisations that have benefited from our pro-bono support include:

The Modernist Society

We provide pro bono media and communications support to The Modernist Society, based down the road from us in Manchester. Our name High-Rise Communications is down to the fact that Managing Director Helen Furnivall is a lover of brutalist architecture and all things concrete. Plus working with The Modernist’s founders Jack and Eddy is always fun, which definitely helps.

Humanitarian Waheed Arian

We provided pro-bono media support for leading humanitarian Waheed, raising his profile and sharing his story about his flight from Afghanistan which led to him studying medicine at Cambridge and now working as an A&E doctor. Find out more about our work for Waheed – which included an interview on Desert Island Discs – here.

The Manchester Mindfulness Festival

We have provided pro-bono communications and social media support for the Manchester Mindfulness Festival. Find out more about what they do and their next event here.
