Why we now offer first aid training to our staff at High-Rise
During May, three of the High-Rise team attended a First Aid at Work course at Flourish in Heaton Chapel – where we all passed with flying colours!
We had a highly informative and friendly course leader who made the day fun and engaging without diminishing the severity of incidents that could take place. Read about why first aid training is important to us at High-Rise Communications below!
Helping create a safer Greater Manchester
As part of our B-Corp commitments, High-Rise now offers all of our staff the opportunity to be first aid trained. We believe the more people who are first aid trained in Greater Manchester the better, as it’s not always the case that first aid emergencies will only happen at work. We also know about the bystander effect – where everyone always thinks someone else will step in if there’s a first aid emergency but this isn’t always the case.
During the course, we covered CPR, defibrillator use and choking prevention on adults, as well as children and babies. We also had a refresher on how to put someone in the recovery position and how to respond in a variety of first aid scenarios and emergencies including burns, minor and severe bleeding, seizures, asthma, allergic reaction and bone and muscle injuries, amongst more.
The day was packed full of activities and helpful phrases to help us remember the importance of each procedure.
First aid and our B-Corp commitments
As a B-Corp, we value the health, safety and welfare of each other and the people we work with. Whilst our course related to the workplace environment, this means members of our team are prepared and knowledgeable should something happen no matter where we are. We work with charities, hospices and community groups, so we felt this aligned with our values and the values of our clients. The confidence and knowledge gained during the course will help reduce the likelihood of accidents as well as help us to feel more self-assured should we need to provide such care to those around us.
