Introducing our Senior Account Executive, Imogen!
Hello, I’m Imogen and I’m thrilled to be joining the High-Rise Communications team as a Senior Account Executive.
Having worked as a regional journalist covering the Greater Manchester area for over three years, I am excited to transfer my skills and knowledge to the world of PR.
I initially started my journalism career at The OIdham Times before joining the Manchester Evening News (MEN) as a senior reporter.
During my time at the MEN, I wrote original and compelling news stories on a daily basis. As a senior news reporter, I provided coverage of breaking news and live blogged directly to readers, often reporting from crime scenes and major events across Greater Manchester.
As a reporter I built relationships with a wide range of contacts and regularly interviewed case studies and produced human interest stories that amplified individuals’ voices and raised awareness of issues that mattered to them and the wider community.
My stories often highlighted the profound impact of charities on people’s lives, and I am looking forward to continuing this work at High-Rise that counts numerous charities and not-for-profits among its PR clients.
By sensitively and compassionately telling people’s stories as a reporter I was able to raise awareness of different issues while championing the charities and organisations that offer support.
What I will bring to the team…
During my time as a journalist, I developed an excellent news-sense and ability to spot a story and news hook that will grab readers’ attention.
I know what journalists are looking for and as a former reporter can write clear and concise copy, that is creative and impactful. I also have strong media and communications skills and an excellent understanding of regional media.
A little bit about me…
I’m originally from Somerset and moved up north to attend the University of Liverpool where I studied English and Communications and quickly became interested in journalism. Alongside studying for my degree, I was the music editor for the university magazine and the fashion and beauty editor for the online newspaper.
After graduating I worked as a superyacht stewardess before moving to Sydney where I interned at the magazine Gourmet Traveller and the website Fashion Industry Broadcast.
After another stint in yachting, I returned to the UK and completed my gold-standard NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Journalism at News Associates in Manchester and never left.
In my spare time you’ll find me attempting to renovate my house, catching up with friends, going to the gym and getting through as many books as I can.
