The Speaker visits our client DA Techs

Arranging a high-profile visit from the Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP to our client’s HQ

One of the ways we help our clients is supporting them with public affairs and advocacy work including meetings with MPs and parliamentarians to help further their strategic goals.

That’s why we were delighted to secure a high-profile visit for our client, DA Techs and its sister company ST Accident Repair Centre, from none other than the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP.  Having their HQ in the middle of the Speaker’s village and constituency, the breaker of parliamentary gridlock himself, was more than happy to come along and find out more about the progress of the business.

The visit marked an exciting moment for the team as founders Jamie Baxter and Phil Barnard were able to show Sir Lindsay how much had changed since his last visit, with significant investments in machinery and in people.

An MP visit which highlights innovation and investment

Sir Lindsay’s visit provided a unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on the groundbreaking work DA Techs is doing. Aiming to show how their innovative technology can reduce costs and improve results for consumers and trade customers alike, we were able to leverage Sir Lindsay’s national profile to secure print and broadcast coverage around the event.

One of the highlights for me was seeing the Speaker press the button to start one of the lathes — certainly a far cry from his day job managing the halls of Westminster! After, DA Techs carefully explained to the Speaker that this machine marked a first in both British and European markets – the long-time Adlington MP seemed particularly enthused with this local win.

Sir Lindsay’s ability to make complex industry terms and processes relatable to the public was invaluable, his perspective as an outsider to the sector but also a recognisable national political figure made an otherwise technical field approachable to laymen such as myself!

During his time at the expanded HQ, I also had the pleasure to see Sir Lindsay meet with a group of young apprentices sharing their admiration for the business, noting: “The success story isn’t just the expansion, but the number of jobs Jamie and Phil have created, and this was done with a pandemic. Just think what these two could do without one!”

Media coverage for MP visit

I was pleased to see the event, with Sir Lindsay’s attendance, manage to secure broadcast media attendance bringing much deserved attention to DA Techs. The Speaker’s endorsement played a vital role in making the event more attractive to the media, thanks in no small part to his famed weekly ad-libs during Prime Minister’s Questions.

Sustained regional coverage also boosted both DA Tech’s and ST Accident Repair Centre’s profile with some of their key audiences. It certainly served to highlight the expertise and care the staff bring into work every single day. I hope to see this momentum carry on as the business goes from strength to strength.
